I’m a mom, sister, friend, and entrepreneur—roles that bring me the most joy.  I’ve always been curious about how and why people chose their profession. Do they find it meaningful? If given the opportunity, would they choose the same path?
That curiosity led me to create getCAREERcurious, a space to share stories, learn from others, and explore the many career paths out there.
MY STORYÂ
In high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I worked hard to get into a good school—the University of Michigan—go Blue💙💛! However, once I got there, I was stuck. The only career advice I had came from family and friends, and it left me feeling lost. People offered great advice from their career vantage points - but it wasn't in fields that interested me. In retrospect, I wish I had been more thoughtful about choosing a career.Â
Ultimately, I graduated with a degree in Spanish Literature, which was a creative way to learn a language and fuel my love of international travel and global cuisine. I also received my MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. I have served in senior leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies in strategy, marketing, and business development. While these jobs sound impressive and paid well, I never found them fulfilling. Creating the getCAREERcurious is my career choice do-over.Â
My WhyÂ
I used to dread the "What do you do for a living?" question. Deep down, I knew something was way off if I wasn't excited enough about my job to talk about it.
Looking back, I wish I had explored more career options before choosing one. Now, as a mom of four young adults, I see how important it is to break that cycle. That's why I started getCAREERcurious—to help you find work that lights you up, ideally before you have gotten too far down any one path.
